Master of Public Health in Global Health and Advocacy

The Master of Public Health (Project Stream) at ACU provides a comprehensive and practical pathway for students seeking advanced knowledge and professional skills in public health. The program begins with core units covering the foundations of public health, biostatistics and epidemiology, Indigenous health, health sciences research, health promotion, Australian healthcare systems, disease prevention and management, and public health law and policy. These subjects establish a strong understanding of population health challenges and evidence-based approaches to improving health outcomes. In the second year, students undertake Preparation for Practice, followed by a supervised Practice Placement that provides valuable exposure to professional public health environments and opportunities to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings. The program also includes several elective units, allowing students to tailor their studies to their professional interests and career goals. Through its combination of academic learning, research skills, policy knowledge, health promotion, and practical experience, the course develops graduates who can contribute effectively to public health initiatives across community, national, and global contexts.
