Bachelor of Theology/Bachelor of Laws

The Bachelor of Theology/Bachelor of Laws is a five-year double degree combining professional legal education with a specialised Christian Thought major and Biblical Studies minor. The program begins with foundational law subjects such as Foundations of Law and Legal Research, Contract Law, Australian Public Law, Commercial Law, Criminal Law and Procedure, and Torts, alongside introductory theology subjects including Introduction to the Bible, Christianity Established, and What Christians Believe. As students progress, the Christian Thought major covers areas such as Jesus the Christ or The Triune God, Theological Thinking and Methods, Prayer and Liturgy, Church: Its Nature and Mission, Christian Symbol, Ritual and Sacrament, and Introduction to Moral Theology. The Biblical Studies component includes subjects such as Critical Approaches to the Bible, New Testament Letters or The Canonical Gospels, and Narratives of Ancient Israel. The Law component develops through subjects including Business Organisations, Statutory Interpretation, Property, Land Law, Civil Procedure, Evidence, Legal Ethics and Professional Responsibility, Constitutional Law, Equity and Trusts, Legal Theory, Administrative Law, and International Law. Students also undertake Community Legal Engagement and Pro Bono/Legal Professional Experience, along with Law electives in the final year. Overall, the program integrates law, theology, ethics, biblical studies, and practical legal experience, preparing graduates for legal and professional careers with a strong foundation in Christian values, ethical reasoning, justice, and social responsibility.
