COURSE CURRICULUM
The four-year Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Nutrition Science curriculum integrates psychology and nutrition to develop a strong understanding of human behaviour, health, food science, and evidence-based practice. In Year 1, students establish foundations through psychology subjects covering psychological theory, practice, applications, and research methods, alongside introductory nutrition, culinary nutrition, and human biology. Year 2 expands knowledge through lifespan development, research design, abnormal psychology, pathophysiology, health promotion, lifespan nutrition, nutritional physiology, and essential chemistry. In Year 3, students progress into personality and individual differences, social psychology, advanced research and data analysis, biochemistry, food and nutrition’s relationship with society and the environment, and core curriculum studies. Year 4 focuses on advanced psychological and nutrition applications, including psychological assessment, brain and behaviour, cognitive psychology, learning and behaviour, diet and disease, food science, food product development, and community and public health nutrition. Across the program, students develop skills in scientific research, data analysis, critical thinking, communication, behavioural understanding, nutritional assessment, health promotion, food science, and community engagement. The combination of these disciplines provides an interdisciplinary perspective on complex health issues, particularly eating behaviours, chronic disease, lifestyle change, and wellbeing. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for diverse opportunities in nutrition, health promotion, community services, research, education, and related professional environments, while providing a strong academic foundation for students who wish to pursue further postgraduate study in psychology, nutrition, or other specialised health fields.
