COURSE CURRICULUM
The Bachelor of Psychological Science/Bachelor of Laws provides a comprehensive five-year program combining psychological science with professional legal education. In the early years, students establish foundations in law through subjects such as Foundations of Law and Legal Research, Contract Law, Australian Public Law, Commercial Law, Criminal Law and Torts, while developing psychological knowledge through Foundations of Psychology, Applications of Psychology, Life Span Development, Abnormal Psychology and Social Psychology. As the degree progresses, students undertake advanced legal studies including Statutory Interpretation, Property, Civil Procedure, Land Law, Evidence, Legal Ethics, Constitutional Law, Equity and Trusts, Administrative Law, International Law and Legal Theory. The psychology component develops expertise in research and data analysis, personality, cognitive psychology, psychological assessment, brain and behaviour, and learning and behaviour. Students also gain practical experience through Community Legal Engagement and a pro bono legal professional experience placement, strengthening their understanding of professional responsibilities and real-world legal practice. Core curriculum studies and law electives provide additional opportunities to broaden knowledge and tailor the degree to career interests. By integrating psychology and law, the program develops strong analytical, research, communication, ethical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Graduates can pursue legal careers while also applying psychological knowledge in areas such as criminal justice, advocacy, policy, community services, human resources, government, research and other professional environments.
