COURSE CURRICULUM

The four-year program combines nursing education with business studies, preparing students to work as registered nurses while developing the management and commercial skills increasingly required in modern healthcare. In Year 1, students establish foundations in financial literacy, marketing, people and organisational management, information technology, Indigenous health and culture, evidence-based practice, human biological science, and health and wellbeing. Year 2 introduces healthcare ethics, economics, nursing transition, health assessment, clinical practice, ageing, product marketing, and organisational behaviour, supported by core curriculum studies. In Year 3, students develop advanced nursing knowledge across surgical, mental health, and medical care while completing business subjects in entrepreneurship, innovation, business law, and strategic management. Clinical integration subjects provide opportunities to connect theoretical knowledge with practical nursing skills. Year 4 focuses on preparing students for professional practice through design thinking, chronic illness and disability, extended clinical reasoning, healthy communities, palliative care, finance, and further integrated clinical practice. Across the degree, students progressively develop clinical competence, ethical decision-making, evidence-based practice, leadership, strategic thinking, financial awareness, and organisational skills. The combination of nursing and business provides graduates with a broader understanding of healthcare organisations and the ability to contribute to both patient care and operational effectiveness. Overall, the curriculum prepares graduates for nursing careers across hospitals and community settings while also supporting future opportunities in healthcare management, leadership, education, health promotion, research, and other roles requiring both professional nursing expertise and business knowledge.
