COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice/Bachelor of Laws is a five-year double degree that integrates comprehensive legal training with specialised study of crime, criminal behaviour, policing, forensic practices, and the justice system. In Year 1, students establish foundations through law and legal research, Australian public law, criminology, violent crime, juvenile justice, criminal justice policy, human rights, and Indigenous peoples. Year 2 develops legal knowledge through contract, torts, and commercial law, while criminology subjects explore forensic psychology, policing, forensic science, and victimology, supported by pro bono community legal engagement. In Year 3, students study criminal law and procedure alongside criminology research, customs and border protection, corrections, rehabilitation, business organisations, civil procedure, alternative dispute resolution, and a law elective. Year 4 introduces property, land law, legal ethics, legal theory, human rights and criminal justice, cybercrime, community engagement, and criminology electives. In Year 5, students complete advanced legal subjects including evidence, statutory interpretation, international law, administrative law, constitutional law, and equity and trusts, together with further law and criminology electives. The curriculum provides a strong combination of theoretical knowledge, legal reasoning, research, professional ethics, practical engagement, and understanding of contemporary criminal justice issues.
