COURSE CURRICULUM
The Master of Information Technology with a specialisation in Enterprise Networking is structured to provide students with both foundational knowledge and advanced technical expertise in network design, implementation, and management. To complete the program, students are required to successfully undertake a total of twelve units, equivalent to 96 credit points, which include seven core units, three specialisation units, and two electives. The core units establish essential skills in key areas of IT, beginning with Information Systems, Data and Information Management, and Software and Systems Design, which provide students with a strong grounding in system architecture, data handling, and programming principles. These units are complemented by Research Methods and Data Analysis, which equips students with the analytical and investigative skills required for complex problem-solving and applied project work. Students also complete Computer Networks and Security, introducing foundational concepts in secure networking, and Project Constraint Management, which develops capabilities in planning, scheduling, and managing resources within technical projects. The program culminates in the Applied Project, allowing students to synthesise their knowledge and demonstrate their ability to deliver practical, real-world networking solutions. Each core unit carries eight credit points, representing 0.167 Equivalent Full-Time Student Load (EFTSL), and prerequisites are structured to ensure logical progression and mastery of essential concepts before undertaking more advanced study. Alongside the core curriculum, students select three specialisation units to gain in-depth knowledge of enterprise networking, including advanced LAN/WAN design, routing and switching, cloud networking, and emerging technologies such as IoT, SDN, and 5G. Two elective units provide flexibility for students to tailor their studies toward personal interests or industry trends, supporting the development of specialised skills relevant to their career goals. Overall, the course structure is designed to produce graduates who are technically proficient, strategically capable, and industry-ready, prepared to take on roles as network engineers, architects, consultants, or IT specialists in enterprise environments.
