ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Woosong University, located in Daejeon, South Korea, is a four-year institution known for its strong emphasis on foreign-language and IT-based education across all major fields of study. Established under the Woosong Educational Foundation in 1954, the university officially opened in 1995 with eight departments and 950 students. Over the years, it expanded its academic offerings through the creation of institutions such as the Graduate School of Industrial Information (1996), SolBridge International School of Business (2007), the Department of Nursing Science (2009), Sol Hospital — a simulated training hospital (2011), Sol International School (2014), and Endicott College (2016). The university’s symbols reflect its educational philosophy: the Falcon represents passion and determination, while the pine tree symbolizes resilience and dedication to learning. These symbols are also used across various affiliated names and programs, such as SolBridge and Soldorado. Woosong once used a falcon-shaped mascot, which was later replaced with an airplane-inspired character in alignment with the university’s WORLD STUDENT PLAN, an initiative supporting internationalization. Academically, Woosong University offers a broad range of undergraduate programs organized into specialized schools, including Design and Information, Health and Welfare, International Studies, Railroad Transportation, Tourism and Culinary Management, SolBridge School of Business (BBA), and the Sol International School, which provides programs in Culinary Arts, Railroad Integrated Systems, Medical Services Management, Hotel Management, Media and Communication Arts, and Restaurant and Food Service Entrepreneurship. Through its global focus, simulated learning environments, and industry-oriented programs, Woosong University positions itself as a modern institution committed to practical education and international engagement.
