Edvia.ai is our in-house technology platform designed to streamline and manage the entire student lifecycle for study abroad services. It is a multi-user, multi-panel system that integrates various functions including the website, student dashboard, telecalling panel, counselling panel, admissions officer panel, admission head panel, admin, and super admin controls - all within a single unified ecosystem. The platform is built to improve operational efficiency, enhance user experience, and enable data-driven decision-making across teams.

Key Responsibilities

Develop and maintain backend systems using Node.js, NestJS, and TypeScript.
Design and build secure, scalable, and high-performance REST APIs.
Design, manage, and optimise PostgreSQL databases.
Lead the development of backend modules for multi-user and workflow-driven SaaS platforms.
Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control systems.
Deploy, monitor, and maintain backend services on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Collaborate with frontend developers for API integration and feature implementation.
Troubleshoot complex backend issues and optimize system performance.
Write clean, maintainable, scalable, and production-ready backend code.
Participate in and lead code reviews and technical discussions.
Improve backend scalability, performance, security, and overall system reliability.
Follow best practices for backend architecture, security, testing, and deployment.
Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance where required.
Act as the primary technical liaison between the Founder and the technology team by understanding business and product requirements, translating them into clear technical requirements and actionable tasks, and coordinating with relevant team members to ensure timely execution.
Understand and clarify requirements directly with the Founder, assess technical feasibility, break down requirements into well-defined tasks, assign or coordinate tasks with the appropriate team members, and track progress through to completion.
Ensure effective communication between the Founder and the development team, proactively identify dependencies or technical challenges, and provide regular updates on task progress, blockers, and delivery timelines.

Requirements

Minimum 4+ years of experience in backend development.
Strong expertise in TypeScript, Node.js, and NestJS.
Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL database management and query optimization.
Experience deploying applications on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
Strong understanding of REST API development and scalable backend architecture.
Experience implementing authentication systems and role-based access control.
Experience working on SaaS platforms, dashboards, or workflow-based systems.
Strong debugging, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency with Git workflows, CI/CD pipelines, and deployment practices.
Strong understanding of backend scalability, security, and performance optimization.
Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced product environment.
Ability to independently own backend modules from design to deployment.

Preferred Candidate Profile

Candidates with startup or product-based company experience will be preferred.
Experience working on dashboard-driven or workflow-based platforms is an advantage.
Strong ownership mindset with willingness to learn, innovate, and drive technical excellence.
Candidates capable of independently handling complex backend modules and technical challenges.
Strong understanding of scalable architecture, maintainable backend systems, and engineering best practices.
Prior experience mentoring junior developers or leading backend initiatives is an added advantage.
