ABOUT UNIVERSITY

Durham College, located in Ontario, Canada, is a public college with two main campuses in Oshawa and Whitby. It offers over 145 academic programs, including six bachelor’s degrees and 11 apprenticeship programs, serving around 13,700 full-time students. The college was founded on September 18, 1967, in Oshawa. It began with courses in applied arts, business, and technology, and expanded to include health sciences and adult training. In 1993, Durham College opened a secondary campus in Whitby, which focused on skilled trades and apprenticeship programs, including the Skills Training Centre. In the early 2000s, the college established partnerships with York and Trent universities, allowing students to take university courses at the Oshawa campus. In 2003, a partnership with Ontario Tech University further expanded academic offerings. By this time, the college offered over 100 full-time programs, and enrollment increased to over 7,100 students. In 2018, the college completed the Centre for Collaborative Education (CFCE), which houses health program classrooms and the Suswaaning Endaajig: First Peoples Indigenous Centre. The Ontario Power Generation Centre for Skilled Trades and Technology (CSTT) opened in 2022 at the Whitby campus, providing expanded industrial skilled trades training capacity for an additional 750 students.
