COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Counselling at Flinders University is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in person-centred behavioural health counselling, aimed at improving both physical and mental health outcomes for individuals and communities. The program provides a comprehensive framework for developing competency in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), enabling students to work effectively with diverse populations in health and related fields.The curriculum combines core and optional topics that deepen students’ understanding of counselling theory and practice while enhancing clinical skills. Key areas of study include Fundamental Counselling Skills, Low Intensity CBT for Psychological Disorders, Fundamentals of Clinical Practice, CBT for Psychological Disorders, Motivational Interviewing, and Strength-Based Approaches for Young People. These courses are delivered in an engaging and innovative learning environment that places the individual at the centre of the learning process, fostering reflective practice, critical thinking, and professional growth.The Master’s program is particularly suited to individuals already working in health or related sectors who wish to expand their expertise in behavioural health counselling.
