COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Surveying (Honours) follows a comprehensive four-year curriculum that develops strong theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in surveying, geospatial sciences, and spatial technologies. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through studies in surveying fundamentals, survey computations, spatial mapping, geodata management, linear algebra, calculus, scientific data analysis, and Indigenous science and STEM perspectives. The second year focuses on developing technical surveying skills with units in coordinate and mapping systems, engineering surveying, geodata processing, applied cartography, integrated surveying, measurement and adjustment analysis, and satellite and space positioning. During the third year, students advance their expertise in control surveying, land planning, mine surveying, photogrammetry, advanced photogrammetry, global navigation satellite systems (GNSS), and survey law, ethics, and professional practice, while selecting an elective in areas such as geology, project management, business sustainability, operations, or ethics. In the final year, students specialise in advanced surveying disciplines including cadastral surveying, physical geodesy, survey network analysis and design, applied geodetic surveying, hydrographic surveying, precise engineering and deformation surveys, and complete a major spatial sciences project. The program combines mathematical foundations, fieldwork, geospatial technologies, and professional practice to prepare graduates for careers in land administration, engineering, mining, infrastructure development, environmental management, and geospatial consulting.
