The Bachelor of Nursing program commencing in Trimester 1, 2027, requires the completion of 240 credit points, which include 230 credit points from core modules and 10 credit points from a flexible module. The core curriculum is structured across multiple trimesters and designed to build foundational knowledge and clinical skills progressively. In the first trimester, students undertake key courses such as Foundations of Professional Nursing, Psychosocial Development across the Lifespan, Human Anatomy and Physiology 1, and Communicating Effectively, each worth 10 credit points. This is followed in Trimester 2 by subjects including Safe Administration of Medications, Human Anatomy and Physiology 2, Health Assessment, and others. Some courses, like Effective Nursing Practice and Legal and Ethical Principles in Healthcare, span multiple trimesters. In the later stages of the program, students deepen their knowledge through units like Acute Nursing Practice, Human Pathophysiology and Pharmacology 1 and 2, Evidence-Based Nursing, Chronic Condition Management, Mental Health Nursing Practice, and Family Nursing. Final-year courses focus on advanced topics and professional readiness, including Complex Clinical Care, Community Nursing Practice, Transition to Professional Nursing, and Older Adults’ Health. Students will also complete a 20-credit point Professional Experience Capstone, providing substantial practical exposure in real-world clinical settings. A key part of the curriculum is Healthcare for Australia's First Peoples, which reflects the program’s commitment to culturally responsive care. In addition to the required core modules, students must complete one flexible module worth 10 credit points, allowing for a degree of customization based on interest or career goals. This structured yet diverse academic path ensures graduates are clinically competent, confident, and well-prepared to deliver safe, ethical, and evidence-based nursing care across a variety of health settings upon becoming Registered Nurses.
