Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Science at Griffith College is designed to provide students with a structured and progressive learning experience over three trimesters. In the first trimester, students take core subjects including Academic and Professional Skills Development for Science and Technology, Biological Systems, and Core Maths Skills. Students with an IELTS score below 6.0 or equivalent are required to complete free Language Development Modules to support their English language proficiency and overall academic success.During the second trimester, students continue to build their scientific knowledge through subjects such as Human Biology: The Human Organism, Chemistry I, and Genetics and Evolutionary Biology. These courses introduce more specialized content and further develop students' understanding of human biology, chemical principles, and the fundamentals of genetic science. The trimester aims to deepen scientific reasoning and laboratory skills in preparation for more advanced topics.In the third trimester, students study Fundamentals of Biochemistry and Statistics, which are essential for understanding chemical processes in living organisms and analyzing scientific data. They also choose between Chemistry 1B or Mathematics 1A, depending on their intended academic or career pathway. Another key subject in this trimester is Introduction to Environmental Sustainability, which explores global environmental challenges and the science behind sustainable solutions.This sample structure demonstrates a balanced mix of theory, practical skills, and academic support. It allows students to gradually develop their knowledge and prepare for further study in fields such as biomedicine, environmental science, chemistry, and more. Students should refer to the current program structure and course outlines provided for their specific trimester of study, as subjects and course offerings may vary.
