Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Social and Psychological Science program is structured to build foundational knowledge across psychology, human services, and social theory over two trimesters. In the first trimester, students with an IELTS score below 6.0 are required to complete language development modules to support their learning. Core courses in this trimester include options between Human Services Structures or Psychology in Professional Contexts, along with Equity and Diversity, and Lifespan Development or Introduction to Psychology 1. Additionally, students develop essential academic and professional skills or improve their English language and communication abilities, depending on their entry requirements. The second trimester deepens understanding with courses such as Introduction to Psychology 2, Interpersonal Skills, and Introduction to Social Theory. Students also choose between Human Services Processes or Research Methods and Statistics in Psychology, depending on their focus. This structure balances theoretical knowledge with practical skills, preparing students for further study or careers in psychology, counselling, human services, and social work. The inclusion of diverse topics like equity, diversity, and interpersonal skills ensures students gain a comprehensive understanding of social systems and human behavior in various contexts.
