Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Engineering at Griffith College is structured over three trimesters and is designed to provide students with the essential academic and technical skills needed for further study in engineering. In the first trimester, students begin with Core Maths Skills, Computing and Programming, and Academic and Professional Skills Development for Science and Technology. These subjects introduce foundational concepts in mathematics, computer science, and scientific communication, providing the base knowledge necessary for engineering studies. Students who enter with an IELTS score below 6.0 or equivalent are required to complete free Language Development Modules to support their English proficiency.In the second trimester, students advance into more discipline-specific content with Mathematics 1A, Engineering Science, and Engineering Fundamentals. These subjects focus on key areas such as calculus, basic physics principles relevant to engineering, and an introduction to various engineering practices and problem-solving techniques. This trimester helps students to further develop their analytical thinking and technical understanding.In the third trimester, students take Mathematics 1B to build on previous mathematical knowledge. They also complete Engineering Materials, which explores the properties and applications of different materials used in engineering. Additionally, students choose between Engineering Mechanics or Electric Circuits depending on their intended specialization. Engineering Mechanics focuses on the behavior of physical systems under forces, while Electric Circuits covers foundational electrical theory and circuit analysis.To complete the diploma, students must successfully finish all required courses. This program structure prepares students for direct entry into the second year of a bachelor’s degree in engineering at Griffith University, where they can specialize in areas such as civil, mechanical, electrical, or environmental engineering. The diploma combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills to ensure students are ready for further academic challenges and future careers in engineering.
