Course Curriculum

The 2025 Diploma of Educational Studies at Griffith College offers a flexible structure that can be completed over two or three trimesters. It is designed as a pathway into the Bachelor of Education at Griffith University, with the option to major in either Primary or Secondary Education. In the first trimester, students begin with Academic and Professional Skills Development, Communication for Teaching and Learning, and Understanding Lifelong Learner. These courses focus on building essential academic, communication, and foundational teaching skills while exploring how individuals learn throughout their lives.In the second trimester, students continue with Philosophy and Ethics in Education and Foundations of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment. These subjects introduce educational theories and classroom strategies that are essential for future teachers. Students also complete General Mathematics (FND114), which meets the mathematics prerequisite for entry into the Bachelor of Education. This removes the need for separate bridging or enabling courses, making the diploma a convenient and efficient choice for those needing to meet subject requirements.If completing the program over three trimesters, students undertake two additional courses in the third trimester: Educational Technologies for Teaching and Learning, and Education and Society. These subjects focus on the use of digital tools in teaching and the broader societal role of education, helping students understand how education impacts individuals and communities.To successfully complete the Diploma of Educational Studies, students must complete eight core courses, earning a total of 80 credit points. Upon graduation, students can enter the second year of the Bachelor of Education at Griffith University and receive 60 credit points toward their degree. This diploma provides a strong academic foundation and a direct pathway into a teaching career, while also supporting alternative careers in education-related fields such as training, adult education, educational policy, and consultancy.
