Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Design program at Griffith College is structured to build foundational skills and knowledge over two trimesters. In the first trimester, students engage in core subjects including Academic and Professional Skills Development, Thinking Through Drawing, Form, Space and Process, and Making Visual Media. For students with an IELTS score below 6.0 or equivalent, a Language Development Module 1 is required to support their English proficiency and academic success. These courses combine practical studio work and theory to develop students’ ability to observe, create, and communicate through design. In the second trimester, students continue their studies with Language Development Module 2 if needed, and progress to subjects such as Design Concepts, Making Interaction, Design Histories and Futures, and Introduction to Creative Careers. These courses further explore creative processes, design thinking, and the historical and future context of design. Students also gain insights into career opportunities within the creative industries. The program’s structure encourages a balance of practical skills and critical thinking, preparing students for higher education or entry into creative roles.
