The Diploma of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Griffith College is structured over two trimesters, providing a comprehensive introduction to key concepts and practical skills in the field. In the first trimester, students study foundational subjects including Introduction to Criminology and Criminal Justice, Law, Crime and Justice, Social Problems: Inequality and Injustice, and Academic and Professional Skills Development. Students with an IELTS score below 6.0 or equivalent are required to complete free Language Development Modules to enhance their English proficiency.In the second trimester, students advance their knowledge with subjects such as Developing Professionally 1, Homicide, Police, Courts and Corrections, and Mental Health, Psychology and the Criminal Justice Systems. These modules focus on specific areas within the criminal justice system, exploring the roles of different agencies, the nature of serious crime, and the interaction between mental health and justice processes. The curriculum is designed to provide both theoretical insight and practical understanding, preparing students for further study or careers in criminal justice.This program structure supports students in developing critical thinking, research, and communication skills essential for success in criminology and related fields.
