Course Curriculum

The Master of Business Administration (Finance) at Flinders University is structured around 16 topics designed to provide students with a robust foundation in business management while specialising in finance. Four of these topics focus exclusively on finance, ensuring students gain advanced knowledge and skills in areas such as financial management, investment analysis, corporate finance, and risk management. The broader curriculum covers essential business disciplines including human resource management, marketing, economics, ethics, sustainability, and law, equipping graduates with a comprehensive understanding of organisational operations and governance. In the second year, students deepen their finance expertise through topics such as security analysis and valuation, new venture finance, and international business, enabling them to apply financial strategies in both domestic and global contexts. The program also offers flexibility for practical experience, allowing students to choose an industry placement in place of a core topic or extend their exposure through specialised entrepreneurial programs such as FOMENT, focused on wine, viticulture, and tourism, or the Innovative Manufacturing Accelerator (IMA), which provides insights into advanced manufacturing practices. A major industry project is a key component of the course, enabling students to synthesise and apply their learning across all areas of business and finance in a practical, real-world context. Throughout the program, students develop leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, preparing them to manage and direct financial operations within organisations. Graduates emerge equipped to make informed, ethical, and sustainable financial decisions, lead complex financial initiatives, and contribute to organisational growth across diverse sectors.
