Course Curriculum

PhD opportunities within the Flinders Health and Medical Research Institute (FHMRI) Medical Biosciences theme cover a wide range of cutting-edge research areas. In the field of Cancer, projects include metabolism and cancer, environmental control of cell growth and division, prostate, brain, and gastrointestinal cancers, multiple myeloma, leukaemia, precision medicine, and cancer survivorship. In Infection and Immunity, research focuses on immune responses to antibiotics early in life, autoimmunity and diabetes, allergy and immune responses, and the study of viruses including dengue, Zika, and SARS-CoV-2. Within Neuroscience, projects include gastrointestinal motility, brain pluripotent stem cells, brain stress responses, motor neuron disease, neurogastroenterology, insect vision, and visceral pain.PhD candidates in these areas benefit from expert supervision, access to advanced research infrastructure, and collaboration with health practitioners and community partners.
