Students also study Chemical Structure and Bonding or General Chemistry, a chemistry topic relevant to the life sciences, and select additional electives, providing opportunities to explore personal interests and establish a broad scientific base.In the second year, students deepen their understanding of biological and behavioural principles through core topics in Experimental Design and Statistics for Biology, Genetics, Evolution and Biodiversity, Ecology, Animal Diversity, Foundations of Animal Behaviour, and Disease and Immunology. This stage of the program focuses on applying theoretical knowledge to practical investigations, fostering critical thinking, analytical skills, and scientific reasoning.The third year emphasizes advanced study and applied research. Core topics include Conservation Biology and Restoration Ecology, Marine and Freshwater Biology, Plant and Algal Diversity, Integrative Physiology of Animals and Plants, Research in Animal Behaviour, and Conservation and Ecological Genetics. Students also choose elective topics to tailor their learning to individual interests and career goals.
