Course Curriculum

In the first year, you will establish a foundation in both creative practice and theoretical understanding. Typical topics include Communication, Theatre, Voice and Movement, Acting, Drama, and Production Laboratory. These topics are designed to help you develop performance awareness, teamwork, and the ability to translate artistic ideas into practice.In the second year, your learning shifts towards more specialised and applied studies. You may explore topics such as Acting, Production Laboratory, Performance, and Modern Theatre, with the addition of two option topics to broaden your knowledge and skills. This year is focused on refining directing techniques, deepening your understanding of theatre history, and engaging with practical performance projects.In the third year, your studies emphasise advanced practice and professional preparation. Core topics include Acting, Contemporary Australian Repertoire, Production Laboratory, and The Artist as Researcher, alongside two option topics. These subjects encourage you to engage critically with Australian theatre, experiment with contemporary directing practices, and build a portfolio of work that demonstrates your artistic and leadership abilities.
