Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Performance (Acting) at Flinders University is structured to progressively develop students’ practical and theoretical skills over three years. In the first year, students focus on foundational subjects such as communication, theatre, voice and movement, acting, drama, and the production laboratory. These courses introduce essential techniques in performance, stagecraft, and collaboration, while helping students build confidence and develop core acting skills.In the second year, students advance their training with continued study in voice and movement, acting, production laboratory, performance, and modern theatre. This year emphasizes refinement of practical techniques, exploring contemporary acting methods and engaging with a variety of performance styles. Students gain deeper insight into the mechanics of stage performance, ensemble work, and professional practices within theatre.The third year focuses on advanced professional and creative development. Core topics include voice and movement, acting, contemporary Australian repertoire, production laboratory, and the artist as researcher. These courses allow students to engage with complex performance challenges, develop interpretive skills, and participate in high-level productions. The artist as researcher component encourages critical reflection, enabling students to integrate academic inquiry with practical performance work.Throughout the program, students have extensive opportunities for hands-on practice, collaboration, and industry engagement, ensuring they graduate with a comprehensive skill set, a professional portfolio, and the confidence needed for a career in acting.
