The Bachelor of Games and Interactive Design at Flinders University is structured to develop students’ creative, technical, and professional skills over three years. In the first year, students are introduced to core topics such as game design, communication, creative arts, game art, multimedia design, game engine implementation, and a production project. These foundational courses provide students with an understanding of the game creation process, from conceptual design to practical implementation, while one elective option allows for personalisation of the learning experience. In the second year, students build on these foundations with more specialised courses, including coding for artists, digital graphic design, interaction design, CGI, studio practice 1, and digital games. These topics focus on technical skills and digital artistry, enabling students to develop assets, design interactive experiences, and gain hands-on experience with industry-standard tools. One elective option allows students to further tailor their studies to their interests or career goals. The third year emphasises advanced production and professional practice. Core topics include multimedia production, game creation, special projects in game production, VFX histories and theories, and digital entertainment production. Students work on multiple projects that mirror real-world game development environments, refining their technical, creative, and collaborative skills. One additional elective option provides the opportunity to specialise further or explore complementary areas of interest.Throughout the three years, students gain practical experience, critical analysis abilities, and reflective skills, ensuring they are well-prepared for careers in game design, game development, visual effects, and interactive media. By combining theoretical knowledge, hands-on practice, and industry engagement, the program equips graduates with a versatile skill set and professional portfolio, ready to meet the demands of a growing and dynamic games and interactive entertainment industry.
