The Bachelor of Education (Inclusive Education) at Flinders University is structured to provide a comprehensive combination of theory, practical skills, and professional experience across four years, preparing graduates to become specialist inclusive education teachers. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in inclusive education through topics such as Inclusive Education, Language Development and Early Reading, Support in Inclusive Education, Teaching Learners with Complex Needs, Expressive Arts, and Enabling Learning. These courses introduce strategies to support diverse learners while fostering practical skills and classroom awareness.The second year builds on this foundation with a focus on specialised knowledge and applied practice. Core topics may include Evidence-Based Practices for Autism, Psychology for Children and Adolescents, Primary Mathematics, Indigenous Pedagogy, and Teaching Students with Learning Disabilities. Students also undertake their first professional experience placement, applying their learning in real classroom settings and developing confidence in supporting diverse learners.In the third year, students refine their teaching expertise through advanced coursework and additional professional experience. Key topics include Learning and Teaching Primary Science, Inclusive Teaching Practices, Planning for Students with Numeracy Difficulties, Health and Physical Education, and Effective Writing Instruction. This stage emphasises designing and implementing inclusive teaching strategies, differentiating instruction, and supporting students with a variety of learning needs.The fourth year focuses on consolidating knowledge and preparing students for full professional practice. Core topics include The Professional Educator, Literacy in Inclusive Classrooms, Digital Literacy and Numeracy, and Neurodiversity in the Classroom, along with a final professional experience placement. Students also have the option to undertake an internship or select two elective topics, allowing for specialisation and further skill development. By the end of the degree, graduates are equipped with the expertise, practical experience, and confidence required to create accessible, supportive, and inclusive primary school classrooms, making a meaningful impact on the learning and development of all students
