The Bachelor of Business (Accounting) is structured to provide a progressive learning journey across three years, combining foundational knowledge, advanced accounting principles, and real-world experience. In the first year, students focus on building core business skills. Semester one introduces subjects such as Fundamentals of Accounting and Finance, Introduction to Economics, Introduction to Management, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation, each worth 15 credit points. Semester two continues with Fundamentals of Law, Introduction to Marketing, Professional Identity (Business), and Statistical Methods. These units lay the groundwork in accounting, business law, management, and quantitative analysis. In the second year, the curriculum shifts toward more specialized content. Semester one covers Commercial Law, Corporations Law, Corporate Accounting, and Business Information Systems, preparing students for complex legal and financial frameworks in business environments. Semester two focuses on Corporate Financial Management, Income Tax Practice, and Financial Accounting, along with one elective unit, allowing students to tailor their learning to personal interests or career goals. The third year emphasizes practical experience and professional application. In semester one, students complete two co-operative placements, each worth 30 credit points, giving them direct exposure to the workplace and an opportunity to apply their knowledge in real business settings. Semester two concludes the program with advanced studies in Management Accounting, Auditing and Ethics, and Tax Law, complemented by an additional elective. This structure ensures that students not only gain academic and technical competence in accounting but also develop critical thinking, ethical awareness, and hands-on experience through industry placements. The combination of theoretical coursework and applied learning supports students in becoming career-ready professionals, well-equipped for roles in accounting, auditing, taxation, and financial management across various industries. While this structure is a sample and may vary, it provides a clear picture of the academic and practical journey offered by the program.
