The Master of Engineering (Electrical Systems) program consists of 13 units designed to provide extensive practical and theoretical knowledge in electrical engineering, particularly focused on the power industry. The core units cover essential areas such as Power Generation, Transmission and Distribution Systems, Electric Power System Analysis, Power Conversion, Renewable Energy Systems, and Power Quality and Mitigation. These foundational subjects enable students to understand the entire lifecycle of power systems, from energy production to delivery and quality management, while addressing the integration of renewable technologies. Professional Engineering Management and Engineering Practice and Key Research Methods are also included to develop leadership, management, and research skills essential for professional practice. Students customize their learning by selecting four elective units from a broad range of specialized topics. These electives include Power System Safety and Protection, System Stability Analysis, Programmable Logic Controllers, Industrial Process Control Systems, Smart Grids, Substation Design and Automation, SCADA Systems, Machine Learning for Industrial Automation, and Green Energy Technologies for Vehicles. This elective flexibility allows students to focus on emerging technologies and areas aligned with their career goals. The program emphasizes hands-on experience through mandatory workshops designed to develop practical engineering skills. Additionally, a Professional Practice Hands-on Workshop and a Professional Experience unit provide real-world industry exposure, bridging the gap between academic theory and workplace application. The culmination of the program is a comprehensive Project Thesis taken over one semester, which challenges students to apply their knowledge and research skills to solve complex engineering problems independently. The program structure is flexible, allowing unit completion order to vary based on prerequisites and availability, accommodating diverse student circumstances. Graduates emerge well-equipped to meet modern power industry challenges, ready for roles in utilities, renewable energy firms, consulting, and infrastructure development, or for further academic and professional advancement.
