The Master of Engineering (Civil: Structural) is a comprehensive two-year program designed to provide advanced training in structural engineering. The program includes 13 academic units, covering advanced topics in analysis, materials, design, and management, along with hands-on workshops and professional experience components to ensure practical readiness.In the first year, students undertake core units such as Structural Analysis, Advanced Engineering Materials, and Project, Design and Construction Management. They also explore specialized design techniques through Structural Design Part 1 and Part 2, focusing on advanced reinforced concrete and steel design, respectively. Advanced Structural Engineering Methods is delivered in two parts, spread across both years, providing a strong analytical foundation. The curriculum also includes Structural Dynamics and a unit on Engineering Practice and Key Research Methodologies, which supports the development of research and critical thinking skills.In the second year, students continue with topics such as Earthquake Structural Design, Structural Refurbishment and Failure, and the Design of High-Rise Structures and Bridges. The program culminates with a substantial 12-credit Project Thesis, where students independently apply their knowledge to solve a real-world structural engineering problem.
