The curriculum combines foundational accounting principles with relevant business and legal knowledge to prepare students for careers in accounting and to meet the academic requirements of professional accounting bodies.In the first year, Semester 1 focuses on core business and accounting fundamentals through units such as Accounting Concepts and Applications, Quantitative Skills for Business, and Business Finance. These provide students with essential technical skills and an understanding of financial decision-making. Semester 2 introduces more advanced accounting and legal concepts with Corporate Accounting and Reporting, Accounting for Managerial Planning and Control, and Principles of Contract and Corporate Law in Business, building expertise in financial reporting and the legal environment of business.Year 2 deepens knowledge of economics, accounting theory, and taxation law in Semester 1 through Economic Analysis for Business, Accounting Theory, Research and Practice, and Principles of Taxation Law. These units equip students with a critical understanding of the theoretical foundations of accounting and the legal frameworks affecting financial practice. In the final semester, students complete Auditing and Assurance Services and Business Analytics for Accounting and Finance, both vital for auditing competence and data-driven decision-making. Additionally, students select one elective from Contemporary Issues in Sustainability Accounting, Management Practicum, or Tax Clinic Practice, allowing them to tailor their learning to specialized interests or gain practical experience.Overall, the course structure ensures a thorough grounding in accounting and law while developing skills needed for professional accounting roles.
