Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Health Science is a two-stage course designed to provide foundational knowledge and skills essential for health-related professions. The first year, identified as Stage 1 and registered under CRICOS Code 103337G, consists of eight units that can be completed over two or three trimesters. This stage focuses on building core academic and employability skills through subjects such as Communication Skills, Introductory Computing, Introductory Mathematics, Workplace Communication – Employability, and Project Management, alongside three elective units chosen by the student. The course structure promotes scaffolded learning, ensuring students develop essential competencies progressively.Stage 2 of the Diploma, also under CRICOS Code 103337G, comprises eight units completed over two semesters. The first semester includes Anatomy & Physiology 1, Language Across the Lifespan, Introduction to Psychology, and Evidence-Based Practice in Speech Pathology. The second semester builds on this foundation with Anatomy & Physiology 2, Language Models and Analytical Frameworks, Introductory Statistics, and Professional Standards and Competencies. These units offer an integrated approach to health science, combining biological, psychological, and communication aspects relevant to speech pathology and broader health contexts. Together, both stages provide a comprehensive and practical curriculum aimed at preparing students for further study or entry into health science careers.
