Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Science (Nursing) is a comprehensive three-year degree designed to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience required to become registered nurses in Australia. The course structure consists of six semesters, with each semester offering four units worth 15 credit points each. In the first year, students are introduced to the fundamentals of nursing and midwifery within the Australian healthcare system, including communication skills, human biological processes, and foundational clinical practice through Nursing Practice 1 and 2. They also explore the health and wellness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and care for older adults. The second year builds on this foundation by focusing on chronic conditions, mental health, and supportive care. Students deepen their understanding of complex human processes and take part in further clinical placements through Nursing Practice 3 and 4. Legal and ethical responsibilities in nursing are also examined, alongside preparation for transitioning into professional practice. In the third and final year, the program emphasizes leadership, interprofessional collaboration, research, and advanced clinical reasoning. Students explore topics such as child and adolescent health, primary health care, and organizational culture in healthcare settings. They also complete Nursing Practice 5 and 6, which are designed to consolidate their clinical skills and prepare them for the responsibilities of registered practice. The course blends theoretical learning with extensive hands-on experience in clinical environments, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to provide safe, effective, and compassionate care across a wide range of healthcare settings. Upon successful completion, graduates are eligible to apply for registration as a nurse in Australia. This program offers a balanced and progressive learning journey, guiding students from the basics of nursing through to advanced practice and leadership, while fostering a strong understanding of patient-centered care and professional accountability.
