The Bachelor of Hospitality and Tourism Management at ECU consists of 24 units (360 credit points) structured to provide students with a balance of core business knowledge and industry-specific expertise. The course includes 12 core units, a 4-unit minor, and an 8-unit supplementary program. The supplementary program may be made up of 8 elective units, two 4-unit minors, or one 8-unit major, allowing students to tailor their degree to their interests and career goals.Students must choose one 4-unit minor from options such as International Hotel and Resort Management, Tourism Business Management, Event Management, Marketing, Human Resource Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation, or Internship (by application only). An alternative combination of four electives may be approved by the course coordinator. The supplementary program can further develop expertise in recommended areas like Marketing, Event Management, Human Resources, Project Management, and others.In Year 1, students are introduced to hospitality, tourism, and food and beverage management, along with foundational business and career development units. Two units from the supplementary program are also completed.In Year 2, students dive deeper into service experience, human resource management, and hospitality finance. They also complete additional units from their minor and supplementary program. A flexible unit is included in Semester 1, allowing students to choose from topics such as event management, social media marketing, or a business study tour.Year 3 allows for further customisation, depending on the minor and supplementary units selected. Core units such as Hospitality and Tourism Management, Business Practicum, and Data Analysis for Marketing Insights are completed, along with additional units from the chosen specialisations. Students can also choose a final unit from advanced topics like International Resort Management or Sustainable Tourism Development.The program equips graduates with industry-relevant skills and offers practical experiences, ensuring they are ready for diverse careers in hospitality and tourism, both locally and globally.
