Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Engineering at Deakin College requires students to complete eight credit points of units alongside two or three zero-credit-point modules, with an additional compulsory module for some international students starting Trimester 3, 2024. The selection of units depends on the Deakin University engineering degree the student plans to enter. Core units include Engineering Physics, Electrical Systems Engineering Project, Materials Engineering Project, and Engineering in Society, each contributing one to two credit points. Students also study Introduction to Programming for Engineers, Sustainable Design, and foundational math units like Introduction to Functions, Relations and Graphs, and Introduction to Mathematical Modelling. Chemistry units such as Chemistry in Our World and Chemistry for the Professional Sciences are available options to support science knowledge. Safety and ethics modules like Introduction to Safety and Project Oriented Learning, Laboratory and Fieldwork Safety Induction Program, and Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin are compulsory zero-credit-point modules. From Trimester 3, 2024, some international students will also complete the Language Development Module to support their academic progress. This structure ensures students develop fundamental engineering knowledge, practical skills, and ethical awareness, preparing them for advanced studies and professional success in their chosen engineering specialisation.
