Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Business at Deakin College is structured to provide a strong foundation in key areas of business, preparing students for further study and future employment. To successfully complete the diploma, students must complete and pass eight core units, each worth one credit point. These core units cover a broad range of essential business topics, including MAA104 Financial Literacy, MAE120 Money, Growth & The Economy, MMM267 Business Logistics, MIS203 Managing Information in the Digital Age, MMK101 Marketing Fundamentals, MMM111 Managing Self and Others, MMM132 Management, and MMM241 Entrepreneurship and Innovation. In addition to the core academic units, students are also required to complete one compulsory module, DAI001 Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, which does not carry any credit points but is essential for ensuring students understand academic expectations and ethical conduct. Starting from Trimester 3, 2024, some international students will also be required to complete an additional non-credit compulsory module, LDM100 Language Development Module, aimed at supporting English language skills and academic communication. This combination of core academic units and supportive modules ensures that students are well-prepared for university-level study and professional success. The course structure is designed to build a comprehensive understanding of business principles, while also developing critical skills such as communication, problem-solving, and leadership. With a curriculum aligned to industry needs and expectations, the Diploma of Business serves as a solid entry point into the second year of a Bachelor of Business at Deakin University, giving students a seamless transition into higher education and a wide range of career opportunities in the business field.
