The Bachelor of Property and Real Estate at Deakin University is structured to provide a comprehensive and flexible learning experience tailored to meet industry standards and career goals. To successfully complete the degree, students must complete 24 credit points. This includes 15 core units that build foundational and advanced knowledge in areas such as property economics, law, investment, and valuation. These core units are essential for developing the professional skills required in the property and real estate sector. In addition to the core units, students must complete one credit point from a Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course elective. This component allows students to gain real-world industry experience through placements or applied projects, helping them build practical skills and valuable professional networks. A key academic requirement is the completion of the zero-credit-point unit, Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin (DAI001), during the first study period to ensure students understand academic ethics and responsibilities.Students also have the opportunity to tailor their degree by choosing eight credit points of open elective units. These can be taken from a wide range of disciplines or used to complete a minor (four credit points) in areas such as Wealth Management, Finance, Sustainability and Development, or Economics, allowing for greater specialisation and career alignment. Academic progression rules require students to complete no more than 10 credit points at level 1 and at least 6 credit points at level 3 to ensure a balanced and advanced academic experience.Typically, full-time students study four credit points per trimester over two trimesters each year. This flexible structure ensures students can gain both the theoretical foundation and practical experience needed to succeed in the property industry, whether they pursue roles in valuation, investment, development, or broader real estate operations.
