Course Curriculum

To complete the Bachelor of Cyber Security at Deakin University, students must pass a total of 24 credit points. This includes compulsory zero-credit-point units such as Academic Integrity and Respect at Deakin, the Safety Induction Program, and Career Tools for Employability, all completed during the first study period. The core of the degree consists of 13 credit points of core cyber security units, along with 3 credit points dedicated to cyber security capstone projects that provide practical, real-world experience. Students also complete one minor, worth 4 credit points, which allows for some specialization or complementary study. Additionally, 4 credit points are reserved for open elective units, offering flexibility to tailor the degree to individual interests. The course limits students to a maximum of 10 credit points at level 1 to ensure adequate academic progression, while requiring a minimum of 6 credit points at level 3 or above to guarantee advanced learning. Most units equate to one credit point each. Full-time students typically study four credit points per trimester and usually undertake two trimesters per year, allowing them to complete the degree efficiently while gaining a strong foundation in cyber security principles, hands-on skills through capstone projects, and opportunities for personal academic focus through minors and electives.
