The Stage 2 Diploma of Commerce at Curtin College includes five core units designed to provide students with broad knowledge across various business fields and essential generic skills. In Study Period 1, students complete units such as Communication, Culture, and Indigenous Perspectives in Business, Financial Decision Making, Market and Legal Frameworks, and Strategic Career Design. In Study Period 2, the core unit Analytics for Decision Making further develops students' ability to interpret data to support business decisions. Alongside these core units, students select elective or specialization units based on one of four Diploma of Commerce pathways that align with Curtin University’s Bachelor degrees and majors. The General pathway offers electives like Introduction to Business Information Systems, Introduction to Human Resource Management, and Marketing Across Borders. The Accounting, Economics, Finance, Law, and Taxation pathway includes Applied Contract Law, Introductory Economics, and Introduction to Finance Principles. The Business Administration pathway combines elements from business information systems, human resource management, and finance principles. The Innovation pathway focuses on Design Principles and Processes, along with either Design Computing or Fundamentals of Programming, and Analytics for Decision Making. For the third elective in Study Period 2, students choose one unit that fits their major or specialization from a list including Applied Contract Law, Drawing, Human Resources Management Introduction, Introduction to Business Information Systems, Introductory Economics, Introduction to Finance Principles, Marketing Across Borders, or Universal Principles of Design. This structure allows students to develop core business skills while tailoring their studies to their specific interests and intended career paths.
