The Exercise Science course is structured to develop students' theoretical knowledge and practical skills across the foundational pillars of exercise science, including biomechanics, physiology, psychology, behaviour change, and motor control and learning. In the first year, students complete units such as Evidence Informed Health Practice, Foundations for Professional Health Practice, Human Physiology for Exercise Science, and Professional Communication in Exercise Science, alongside Functional Anatomy, Exercise and Sport Psychology, Indigenous Cultures and Health Behaviours, and Physical Activity, Exercise and Fitness Assessment. These units provide a strong grounding in human health, anatomy, physiology, and psychological principles relevant to exercise.In the second year, students advance their understanding through Biomechanics, Exercise Delivery, Exercise Physiology, and Motor Control. Semester two focuses on Advanced Biomechanics, Exercise Prescription, and Motor Learning, with additional options available to broaden knowledge and skills, including Human Structure and Function, Introduction to Psychology, or professional internship experience. These units emphasise the application of theoretical knowledge to designing, delivering, and evaluating exercise programs.The third year consolidates learning with applied and professional practice-focused units. Students study Allied Health Research Design, Applied Exercise and Sports Physiology, Behaviour Change for Exercise and Health, and Exercise Science Professional Practice in semester one. In semester two, they complete Advanced Coaching and Programming, Clinical Exercise and Sports Injury, Exercise and Sports Nutrition, and Performance Analysis and Introductory Data Science. These units prepare students to work in diverse settings, applying research and evidence-based approaches to improve health, performance, and wellbeing.The course includes practical and professional placements that provide hands-on experience in real-world environments, ensuring graduates are career-ready. The structure integrates theoretical, applied, and professional learning to equip students with the knowledge, technical skills, and critical thinking required for a career in exercise science, sports performance, clinical exercise, and allied health.
