The Bachelor of Creative Arts is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in creative thinking, cultural awareness and professional practice, while allowing flexibility to specialise in a chosen creative discipline. In the first year, students are introduced to the creative industries through core units such as Introduction to Creative Arts and Creative Arts Practice, which develop fundamental skills in creative exploration, conceptual development and reflective practice. Supporting units like Sustainability Communication and Action and Culture to Cultures broaden students’ understanding of social, cultural and environmental contexts, helping them situate their creative work within contemporary global issues. Students also select from a range of options in performance, fine art and screen practice, enabling early exposure to different creative forms and helping inform their choice of major. Electives further allow students to tailor their learning to individual interests and career goals. In the second year, the course becomes more focused and practice-led, with students undertaking a Creative Arts Project that emphasises collaboration, problem-solving and applied creative skills. At this stage, students complete a major in Fine Art, Screen Arts or Theatre Arts, gaining in-depth disciplinary knowledge and developing advanced technical and conceptual capabilities. Optional units such as studio processes, collaborative theatre practice or production-based subjects further strengthen professional skills and creative confidence. In the final year, students complete the Creative Arts Advanced Project, a substantial capstone experience that allows them to plan, produce and present a major body of creative work. This project integrates theory, practice and professional presentation, preparing students for entry into the creative industries or further study. Overall, the course structure balances creative freedom with academic rigour, ensuring graduates are adaptable, industry-aware and equipped with a strong professional portfolio.
