Course Curriculum

In the first year of this comedy program, students explore the foundations of comedy through a blend of theory, performance, material creation, and industry production. The theory stream includes studying the Theories of Humour and the Intercultural History of Comedy, providing students with a broad understanding of comedy’s cultural significance and historical development. Performance courses focus on Acting Foundations and Creating a Character, helping students build the essential skills needed for comedic performance. Material creation classes, such as Devising for Performance and Writing Comedy for Live Solo Performance, guide students in developing original comedic content tailored for live audiences. The industry production component introduces students to Critical Thinking and the practical aspects of managing a comedy career through The Self-Producing Comedian course. Overall, the first year equips students with both the creative skills and industry knowledge necessary to begin their journey in the comedy field.
