Course Curriculum

In the first year of the Interior Design program, students establish a strong foundation through a balanced combination of design theory, creative practice, and technical skills. The theoretical courses include Design Theory, Creative Theory, and Design Movements, which explore the history, principles, and evolution of design, providing students with a deep understanding of the discipline’s intellectual and cultural context. Practical application is emphasized through courses like Material Exploration, where students investigate different materials and their uses, and Design Drawing and Digital Drawing, which develop essential skills in visual communication and representation. Colour Exploration further enhances students’ understanding of how colour influences design and mood within interior spaces. Alongside these core areas, Creative Foundations nurture creative thinking and problem-solving abilities, while Digital Integration introduces students to relevant digital tools and technologies that are vital in contemporary design practice. This first-year curriculum is thoughtfully designed to equip students with a comprehensive skill set, combining theory, hands-on experimentation, and digital proficiency, preparing them to approach interior design projects with creativity, technical knowledge, and an informed design perspective.
