The Photography course is structured over three years, divided into three trimesters each year, blending technical skill development, creative growth, and industry readiness. In the first year, students begin with foundational units such as Photography Studies (PHPS1) and Photographic Lighting (PHPS2), along with Design Principles for Photography and Creative Development (PHCD1 and PHCD2). These units cover essential skills like camera fundamentals and portraiture, while Production & Practice courses introduce practical experience in photographic workflows and post-production techniques including compositing. Throughout the year, Creative Foundations (CRFCRFS and CRFIFOS) and Industry Foundations provide a broad base for creative thinking and professional knowledge. The second year builds on this foundation with advanced Photography Studies (PHPS3 and PHPS4) and specialized topics like Documentary Photography and Photojournalism, Contemporary Issues of Photographic Technology, and Mobile Filmmaking. Production & Practice units focus on commercial photography in various contexts, including culinary, product, people, and environments, while Creative Foundations (PHOMPHS) explore mobile photography and photographic publishing. Students engage with evolving photographic technologies and industry trends, preparing them for diverse professional opportunities. In the third year, students focus on refining their expertise through advanced studies such as Landscape Photography (PHPS5 and PHPS6) and experiment with imaging technologies (PHPP5 and PHPP6). The Capstone Project involves concept development and the creation of a photographic folio, integrating all prior learning into a professional portfolio. Creative Entrepreneurship equips students with the business skills needed to succeed, while elective Creative Foundations (CRFIPLS) allow for further exploration and specialization. The course culminates with an Industry Placement, providing valuable real-world experience and professional networking opportunities. By the end of the program, students have developed a comprehensive skill set, creative vision, and industry connections that prepare them to launch successful careers in various fields of photography.
