The Bachelor of Music Performance at Collarts is structured over three years, offering a comprehensive and immersive learning experience tailored to developing professional musicianship. In the first year, students focus on building foundational skills in performance, technique, ensemble work, music theory, and industry knowledge. Each trimester includes subjects such as Principal Study and Ensemble Performance, where students receive one-on-one training and collaborate with peers. Technique Foundations and Theory and Aural Studies further strengthen musical understanding, while Creative Foundations and Industry Foundations introduce students to the creative industries and professional expectations. The second year deepens this foundation with a shift toward professional practice and music direction. Students continue developing their Principal Study and Ensemble skills, now under the titles of Professional Practice and Music Direction. Advanced Theory and Aural Studies continue to challenge students' musical literacy, while the subject Introduction to Entertainment Management provides valuable insight into the business side of music. An elective unit offers the opportunity to tailor the degree to personal interests or career goals. In the final year, the focus turns toward industry readiness and professional presentation. Students complete their capstone project across two trimesters, showcasing their skills through a final performance. Ensemble work evolves into professional presentations, mirroring real-world performance settings. The last stage of theory and aural studies concludes the academic progression. Industry Awareness subjects culminate with Music Tuition and a choice between an Industry Placement or a Professional Portfolio, allowing students to apply their knowledge in a practical, career-focused setting. By graduation, students emerge as confident, technically skilled performers with a strong grasp of theory, collaboration, and industry expectations—prepared to step into diverse roles within the music industry.
