Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Paramedicine at Charles Sturt University is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the essential knowledge, clinical skills, and professional competencies needed for a successful career as a paramedic. The course consists of 192 credit points made up entirely of core subjects, ensuring a well-rounded and practical education. Foundational science subjects such as Human Anatomy and Physiology 1 and 2, Pathophysiology and Pharmacology 1, and Applied Pharmacology for Paramedicine provide a deep understanding of the human body and medical science. Clinical training is a central focus of the degree, with hands-on subjects like Foundations of Clinical Practice, Clinical Simulation, and Advanced Cardiology and Paramedic Practice helping students develop real-world skills. Workplace learning is embedded throughout the course with multiple placement opportunities, including Non-Emergency Clinical Placement and Clinical Placement and Authentic Learning 1 and 2. These placements are essential for bridging theory and practice, giving students experience in various healthcare settings. Other key areas of study include mental health, lifespan health issues, Indigenous Australian health, ethics, professionalism, and paramedic law. Additionally, integrative subjects like Integrating Paramedic Medical Science and Integrating Paramedic Trauma Science allow students to synthesize their learning across different domains.
