Discover how each program is uniquely designed to inspire learning

The Bachelor of Communication offers a comprehensive, industry-informed program designed to prepare students for successful careers in the dynamic communication and media sector. The degree is structured around 112 credit points of core subjects that establish a strong foundation in professional communication, digital media practices, ethical standards and global perspectives. Students begin by developing their professional identity and understanding of digital society, before progressing to subjects that focus on engaging audiences, managing social media communities, and writing and producing content for contemporary digital platforms. The program also introduces students to key areas of communication through dedicated subjects in strategic communication, journalism, and design and content creation, allowing them to explore different pathways early in their studies. As students advance, they build analytical and applied skills through subjects covering research methods, data and insights, legal and ethical communication, global communication, and the planning and delivery of projects, events and experiences. A compulsory work placement provides hands-on industry experience, enabling students to apply their learning in real workplace settings while developing professional networks and practical confidence. The inclusion of First Nations Foundations: Knowing, Relating and Understanding Country ensures graduates gain cultural awareness and an understanding of Indigenous perspectives, supporting inclusive and responsible communication practice. In addition to the core curriculum, students complete a 64 credit point major in Design and Content Creation, Journalism, or Strategic Communication, allowing them to develop specialist knowledge aligned with their career goals. Graduates of the Bachelor of Communication are well equipped with creative, analytical and professional skills, making them adaptable and work-ready for a wide range of roles across media, communication, public relations, digital content creation and strategic communication in both local and global contexts.
