The Bachelor of Business at Charles Sturt University is a 152-credit-point course designed to provide students with a solid foundation in business principles alongside practical work experience. The core subjects, totaling 64 credit points, cover essential business disciplines such as accounting, economics, human resource management, business law, marketing, management, data analytics, and Indigenous knowledge. These subjects equip students with the theoretical knowledge needed for a successful career in business.A compulsory Work Integrated Learning (WIL) component, worth 24 credit points, allows students to gain hands-on experience in workplace settings. The WIL component consists of three sets of subjects that include work placements and transferable skills subjects focusing on employability, workplace communication, resilience, critical thinking, emotional intelligence, and creativity. Students unable to complete work placements may seek approval to substitute with equivalent employability and professional practice subjects.Students must also select one major, comprising 64 credit points, from options including Finance, Human Resource Management, Management and Leadership, Marketing, or Strategic Planning. These majors allow students to specialize in an area aligned with their career goals. In addition to core and major requirements, students complete a minor sequence worth 32 credit points, which must be from a different discipline than their major. Minors are offered within the Faculty of Business, Justice and Behavioural Sciences, such as Accounting, Entrepreneurship, IT Management, Project Management, and others. Alternatively, students may choose minors from other faculties, including Agribusiness, Design and Content Creation, Ethics and Social Responsibility, News and Media, and Sustainability.Students who do not choose a minor must complete five unrestricted electives totaling 40 credit points. These electives provide flexibility to explore other interests or broaden their business knowledge. This course structure combines academic learning with practical experience to prepare graduates for the dynamic and diverse demands of the business world.
