Course Curriculum

This undergraduate agriculture degree is structured to provide students with a comprehensive and industry-focused education through a combination of core subjects, compulsory workplace learning, and a specialised major. The program includes 168 credit points of core subjects that cover essential biological, environmental, and agribusiness disciplines underpinning modern agriculture. These subjects introduce students to areas such as agricultural economics and marketing, biology in agriculture, food systems, production analysis, extension, livestock and plant production systems, biotechnology, precision agriculture, soil science, plant protection, and contemporary agricultural issues. Students also develop a strong scientific foundation through studies in chemistry and microbiology, alongside an understanding of agricultural finance, farm systems management, and the cultural and environmental significance of land through First Nations perspectives. Together, these core subjects ensure graduates have a well-rounded understanding of agricultural systems, sustainability, and innovation.In addition to the core curriculum, students complete 24 credit points of compulsory subjects that focus on applied learning and industry engagement. These include consultancy for farming systems, which develops problem-solving and advisory skills, and an agricultural industry internship that provides substantial workplace learning. This internship allows students to gain real-world experience, apply theoretical knowledge in professional settings, and build industry networks, enhancing employability upon graduation.The degree also includes a 64-credit-point major, allowing students to specialise in an area aligned with their interests and career goals. Major options include Agronomy, Digital Agriculture, Horticulture, Livestock Production, and Mixed Farm Business. These majors provide in-depth knowledge and advanced skills within specific agricultural sectors. For students intending to progress to honours study, the program offers flexibility to complete a minor and research project.
