Charles Darwin University (CDU) offers the Master of Teaching (Primary) with a strong focus on flexibility and accessibility, allowing students to study on campus, online, or through a combination of both. All course materials are available digitally, and students are encouraged to engage in interactive learning experiences that promote collaboration, professional dialogue, and leadership development within the education community.Before graduation, all students must pass the ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE), as mandated by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). The cost of this assessment is the responsibility of the student. Prospective students are also advised to review all prerequisite and assumed knowledge requirements before enrolling.To complete the degree, candidates must successfully complete 160 credit points (cp), with all units valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise stated. The course includes 60 days of professional experience, which must be undertaken in the specified sequence of EPE528 and EPE635 to ensure progressive skill development in classroom settings.The program is structured around 17 core units that collectively prepare students for diverse teaching roles. Core units include foundational subjects such as Inclusive Education, Policies and Practice (EIE501), Managing the Classroom Environment and Student Wellbeing (EST501), and Integrating Indigenous History, Cultures and Learning in Teaching Practice (EST511).Students also develop curriculum expertise through units such as Primary Humanities (ECU502), Health and Physical Education (ECU503), Science Curriculum and Pedagogies (ESC520), Primary Mathematics Education 1 and 2 (EMA541 and EMA542), and English Literacy and Literature (ELA525, ELA526).Through a balance of theory, research, and practical experience, the Master of Teaching (Primary) at CDU equips graduates with the skills, confidence, and professional insight to teach effectively in primary school settings across Australia.
