The Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) offers a flexible and comprehensive pathway for individuals seeking to become qualified teachers and make a positive impact in early learning and primary education. This program is designed for students who already hold a bachelor’s degree in a field other than education and wish to gain accreditation to teach children from birth through the early years of schooling.Students can choose to study online as external students, on campus as internal students, or through a combination of both modes. Regardless of study mode, all students have access to digital learning materials and are encouraged to participate in interactive discussions and collaborative networks to enhance professional dialogue and learning. This blended approach ensures accessibility and flexibility for learners with varying personal and professional commitments.A key requirement of the course is the successful completion of the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education (LANTITE), as mandated by the Australian Institute for Teaching and School Leadership (AITSL). Students must meet the cost of this assessment and should refer to the ACER website for detailed information. Additionally, candidates are advised to review prerequisite and assumed knowledge requirements prior to enrolment. The program consists of 160 credit points, with all units valued at 10 credit points unless otherwise stated. Students are required to complete 80 days of professional experience, undertaken through a structured sequence of placements in EPE501, EPE502, and EPE635. These experiences allow students to apply theory to practice, develop classroom management skills, and demonstrate teaching proficiency.Graduates of the Master of Teaching (Early Childhood) will emerge as skilled, reflective, and adaptable educators, equipped with the knowledge, pedagogical expertise, and professional understanding to support and inspire young learners in diverse educational settings.
